Speaking as someone who moderates on other forums, it is TOTALLY worth deleting the crap. If you start letting it slide, your signal-to-noise ratio is going to go through the floor, and you'll have more crap posts bringing up threads from the distant past so that users can't tell WTF is current anymore. This means less meaningful posts from users, and the spambots will start coming even more, because they'll know that you're leaving their SEO alone. If you're not going to bother deleting the crap, then you might as well shut down the forums, and I for one really hope that you don't do that.

Want help with deleting crap? I'm on here often enough and I hate spam enough that I'll track it down and kill it as much as possible.
In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is.

I usually check the forums 2-3 times a day to clean up bad posts, and I know a few others do so as well, so hopefully it's not too bad. Most of us have ban privileges now, too, so we'll be cleaning up in a more forceful way from now on.

The spam posts in this topic were deleted, and discussing more here is counter-productive. Start a new topic over in the off topic board.
